A special tree planting ceremony has taken place at Congleton War Memorial Hospital, which is part of East Cheshire NHS Trust.
Three flowering Cherry Trees were planted in the grounds of the hospital which will form part of the UK-wide Queen’s Green Canopy to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee. Congleton Town Council is planting 70 flowering Cherry Trees – one for each year of the Queen’s reign – which are being planted across the town by the voluntary group ‘Trees for Congleton.’
Trust Chairman Lynn McGill, Director of Nursing and Quality Kate Daly-Brown and Deputy Chief Executive and Director of People and Culture Rachael Charlton, were in attendance at the ceremony which took place on Tuesday 15th March, alongside Cllr Denis Murphy, Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Margaret Gartside, Congleton Town Deputy Mayor, Cllr Suzy Firkin and Cllr David Brown.
Chairman of East Cheshire NHS Trust, Lynn McGill said; “We are delighted that Congleton Town Council have chosen Congleton War Memorial Hospital as one of the locations for these Cherry Trees and our heartfelt thanks goes to the Town Mayor.
“In recognition of Her Majesty The Queen’s Green Canopy initiative to mark her Platinum Jubilee, these beautiful trees will provide a wonderful addition to our hospital grounds for staff, patients and visitors to enjoy in full bloom.”
Congleton War Memorial Hospital staff including Senior Sister Jo Hodgkinson, Ward Sister Carol Bailey and Housekeeper Nicola Davies also attended the ceremony along with representatives from Congleton in Bloom, Trees for Congleton, other councillors and council staff.
