Local DJ to host second Old School Disco night in aid of Macclesfield Hospital’s Breast Screening Unit

23 November 2024

Local disc jockey Chris Marshall Booth is set to bring back the nostalgic vibes with his second ‘Old School Disco’ night, all in the name of a good cause.

The event, which takes place on Saturday 30th November at Congleton Town Hall between 7.30pm-12.30am, is supporting former patient, Gena Moors, who is raising funds for the Breast Screening Unit at Macclesfield District General Hospital.

The mum-of-two’s fundraising efforts began in 2023 with the creation of ‘Splash of Pink’ which was established as a thank you for the care she received following a breast cancer diagnosis in 2020.

Following the success of her first event last year which raised over £24,000, Gena held her second Splash of Pink Breast Cancer Ball at Shrigley Hall & Hotel in September, in a bid to raise £50,000 to purchase a lifesaving piece of equipment for the unit, above and beyond what the NHS funds.

Gena said: “The first ‘Old School Disco’ night was an incredible success, and I was overwhelmed by the community’s support.

“A big thanks to Chris for his support in my fundraising efforts, the funds raised will go a long way in helping us purchase vital equipment for the breast screening unit, ensuring that more patients can benefit from the same high-quality care that I did.”

The ‘Old School Disco’ night promises to be a fun-filled evening with classic hits from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, encouraging attendees to dance the night away while contributing to a meaningful cause.

Tickets are £12 each and can be purchased by emailing chrismbooth@btopenworld.com.
