Today the Care Quality Commission (CQC) published the findings of its latest Annual National Maternity Survey. This survey captures what women who gave birth in February 2024 felt about the care they received while pregnant, in hospital during and after labour, and once at home in the weeks following the arrival of their baby.
East Cheshire NHS Trust’s Maternity Unit is included in the findings of this survey, with 92 of our patients responding this year.
Overall, all available responses to the questionnaire were either in keeping with national figures or better, with respondents highly rating the clear communication, and kind and understanding care they experienced, along with the confidence and trust they had in the staff caring for them.
Nicola Biggar, Head of Midwifery, Women’s and Children’s Services at East Cheshire NHS Trust, said: "We’re delighted with the feedback we have received through this year’s National Maternity Survey. Each member of our fantastic team is passionate about what they do and following the reopening of our Maternity Unit in the summer of 2023 we been striving together to provide outstanding care to every patient.
"The findings from this survey will be considered in depth, and we will reflect not only on the overwhelmingly positive feedback we have received, but also any areas where there is room for improvement.
"A huge thank you to each patient that took the time to respond to this survey, your feedback helps us to understand what we’re doing right, where we can improve, and how we can ensure that every patient receives the best possible care."
