Health Matters - An evening at Congleton War Memorial Hospital

25 July 2024

This week, the latest Trust Health Matters event celebrated Congleton War Memorial Hospital in its centenary year.

Speakers included Dr John Hunter, Medical Director and Deputy Chief Executive, who discussed the history of the hospital and what makes it such a special place, and Jo Hodgkinson, Senior Sister on the Aston Unit, who talked about her experiences since joining the Aston Unit and why it’s such a wonderful place to work.

Staff Nurses from the unit, Sue Smith and Carol Bailey, also shared insights at the event. Sue, who was born at Congleton War Memorial Hospital and has worked there since the mid-80s, talked about how much the hospital has meant to her and her family throughout her life, while Carol shared a special patient story about a recent patient on the Aston Unit. You can read more about Sue's story here.

Attendees were also able to explore the new wellbeing garden, which has been created as part of the 100th anniversary of the hospital this year, through East Cheshire NHS Charity’s Wellbeing Appeal.
