Generous League of Friends donation benefiting patients at Congleton War Memorial Hospital

3 July 2024

LOFDonation.JPGPatients on the Aston Unit at Congleton War Memorial Hospital are benefitting from brand new equipment thanks to a generous donation from The League of Friends of Macclesfield and Congleton Hospitals.

The charity donated £4,000 to the unit to enable the purchase of two recliner chairs which are being used to support with patient rehabilitation.

Vital funds have been raised thanks to local community donations and monies made through the charity’s retail shop which is based on Lawton Steet in Congleton.

Treasurer for The League of Friends of Macclesfield and Congleton Hospitals, Dave Johnson said: “The League of Friends prides itself on working with the local community to raise funds for the local NHS and its users.

“We hope that our grant, that comes about from the funds we raise in our shop and through the local community’s generous donations, helps the staff at Congleton War Memorial Hospital to provide the help and wellbeing for those members of our community using their services and support.”

The League of Friends provides funding and support for the local NHS and its users through grants and have a long history of providing financial support to both Congleton and Macclesfield hospitals.

Senior Sister on Aston Unit, Jo Hodgkinson said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to the League of Friends for their generous donation. The funding they have provided will make a huge difference to the local community and to our colleagues as well, ensuring the hospital can provide the very best care to our patients.”
