An evening at Congleton War Memorial to showcase the Hospital in its centenary year

The next Health Matters event hosted by East Cheshire NHS Trust will be showcasing Congleton War Memorial Hospital, which celebrated 100 years of service on 22nd May 2024.  

'An evening at Congleton War Memorial Hospital' will take place on Tuesday 23rd July from 6pm, in the Aston Unit at Congleton War Memorial Hospital. 

Everyone is invited to attend to mark the 100th anniversary of the hospital, and learn about the history of the hospital, the fantastic services the hospital offers to the Congleton community to this day - and the people that make it such a special place. 

The hospital was built in 1924 and paid for by the local community as a memorial to the 243 local people killed in the First World War.

The hospital remains an essential part of Congleton, and its centenary celebrations have been taking place throughout the summer.

Jo Hodgkinson, Senior Sister on the Aston Unit at Congleton War Memorial Hospital, said: “My colleagues and I have thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the 100^th anniversary of a hospital that means so much to the people of Congleton.”

Jo continued: “We’re looking forward to inviting the local community through the doors of our wonderful hospital to mark this incredible year in its history with the upcoming Health Matters event later in the month.” 

The Trust’s Health Matters talks are designed to give the public the opportunity to hear more about the work going on behind the scenes at their local NHS Trust.

The event, which used to regularly take place before the pandemic, spotlights the dedicated work of Trust consultants, clinicians, and staff to provide local communities with fantastic healthcare.

Open to the public, the evening event will take place on Tuesday 23rd July from 6pm, in the Aston Unit at Congleton War Memorial Hospital (CW12 3AR). Attendees can park for free on site at Congleton War Memorial Hospital.
