East Cheshire NHS Trust’s Library & Knowledge Service has won gold at the annual LIHNN Service Development Awards.
LIHNN is a network of health libraries and information services in the North West of England, with the annual LIHNN Service Development Awards voted on by regional colleagues of the Trust's library team.
The gold award was achieved for the digital upskilling support and app development work that the team has been working on to support the Trust’s rollout of the Digital Clinical System (DCS) – an Electronic Patient Record system.
The team and their award, with Ged Murphy, Chief Executive Officer.
The library team are supporting Trust staff to improve their digital skills in preparation for the upcoming implementation of the DCS and have developed a web-based app with content to support digital upskilling.
This project was inspired by research which showed that staff with less digital skills, often felt comfortable using their phones more than other technology – making the app a great tool for staff to grow confidence with the use of other platforms through their mobile phones. So far, the app has already been used 192 times.
Team members Holly Cook and Rowan Smith have taken the lead on this project, with the support of the whole Library & Knowledge Service and Learning and Development Innovation team.
Alison Thornley, Library & Knowledge Service Manager at East Cheshire NHS Trust, said: “I would like to thank the entire team for their enthusiasm and constant drive to improve how we deliver the Library & Knowledge Service.”
