Volunteers from across East Cheshire NHS Trust came together at a special 'Thank You' event at Macclesfield Football Club recently.
Arranged by the Cheshire Volunteer's Service (Cheshire East) on behalf of the Trust Board, the annual event provided an opportunity to thank volunteers who commit their time and effort to supporting staff in providing patients with the best care across Macclesfield, Congleton and Knutsford hospitals.
Alongside hearing from Chair of the Trust Board, Lynn McGill, volunteers also enjoyed an afternoon tea and were treated to a performance from Macclesfield Music Centre.
Following the event, Chief Executive at East Cheshire NHS Trust Ged Murphy, said: “Volunteers really do add extra value to our patients and staff and they make our trust a really special place.
“It's been a great event to attend, and I must thank all our volunteers for their continued hard work.”
Susan Davenport, who has been volunteering since October 2019 as a ‘welcomer’, added: "I love it, I like being helpful and useful.
“People want to feel reassured when they come in that somebody can take them to where they need to be and take that stress away.
"It reassures them to see us in uniform and know they are going to get the help they need."
