With historic towns, chocolate box villages and Liverpool and Manchester on its doorstep, Cheshire has plenty of options for all types of people. The county is consistently voted one of the best places to live in England; with quality of life, transport links and local facilities all contributing. 

East Cheshire NHS Trust is headquartered in Macclesfield, on the edge of the stunning Peak District National Park. Surrounded by outstanding countryside and beautiful towns and villages, Macclesfield and neighbouring areas are a superb place to live and work.  The Peak District National Park, Tatton Park, Chester Zoo, Jodrell Bank and Delamere Forest are just some of the local highlights. 

Transport

The East Cheshire area has strong transport links, being 25 minutes drive to the M6 motorway in addition to a regular rail service to a number of major cities including; Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Chester, Birmingham, and London. Macclesfield railway station has frequent services to Manchester Piccadilly (25 minutes), Stoke (15 minutes) and London Euston (1 hour 47 minutes).

Macclesfield is only a 30 minutes’ drive to Manchester Airport. This gives Macclesfield direct international connections to cities all over the world.

Education

There are a wide choice of primary and secondary schools in the Cheshire area, the majority of which have been rated outstanding or good by Ofsted. Cheshire is also home to a number of Colleges providing a wide range of study options for students in high quality facilities. Whether A-levels, apprenticeships,technical baccalaureate or adult learning, there is something for everyone. 

There are two Universities in Cheshire which offer a wide range of diploma, degree, postgraduate and professional subjects on a full and part-time basis. The University of Chester, one of the oldest universities in England (founded in 1839), is based on three campuses in Chester and one in Warrington, while Manchester Metropolitan University's Cheshire Campus is based in Crewe. Keele University is also nearby, just across the border into Staffordshire.
